7 Most Common Reasons that Cause Dark Circles in Men

Dark circles or puffiness under the eyes is a very common problem in both men and women. There may be various reasons behind it.  A few of them are discussed below:

Allergies – If your dark circles are sudden, an allergic reaction can be doubted. In such cases, it is associated with other symptoms like fever and skin rash. Processed food treated with chemicals or consumption of food not suitable for your body might be a reason for it.

Cosmetics – Generally, very few men are found using skin care products. Before adopting a skin care cosmetic product or switching over to another, make sure the product is safe for your skin type.

Inherited – If your elder family members also have the same issue, then maybe this is a hereditary problem. In such conditions, it is very difficult to get rid of the issue however, you can always visit a skin specialist to suggest you some remedies to make your dark circles less visible.

Nasal congestion – If you have caught cold, the appearance of dark circles is a common secondary reaction. Due to nasal congestion, the veins under the eyes get darkened causing dark circles to appear. These generally go with the cold.

Insufficient sleep – Health experts suggest getting at least 7 to 8 hours of sleep daily. If you are not getting this much of sleep, make the appropriate changes in your daily schedule to provide proper rest to your body to rejuvenate.

Dehydration – Due to dehydration in your body, the under-eye area might get swollen making dark circles appear. For a well hydrated body, you should drink at least eight glasses of water daily. Greater quantity of dietary salts in your diet also causes dehydration.

Stress – Work related stress or anxiety due to personal reasons is also a common factor causing dark circles to appear. The best way to avoid it is to stay happy and contented and take proper rest.
